EarthCam‘s latest construction management software represents a significant evolution beyond time-lapse imaging into comprehensive AI-powered site intelligence. The company’s Control Center 9 release transforms construction site cameras into analytical tools that monitor safety conditions, track materials, and provide actionable insights through user-friendly dashboards. This shift highlights how construction technology is rapidly moving from passive documentation to active management systems that enhance efficiency and safety.

The big picture: EarthCam has expanded its construction technology platform with AI-powered analytics that track jobsite health metrics and automatically monitor materials across construction projects.

Key features: The new Control Center 9 platform evaluates construction site performance through three critical health and safety factors: readiness, activity, and stress.

  • The readiness component analyzes site preparedness by monitoring weather conditions, project schedules, and material availability, even tracking details like dumpster fill levels.
  • Activity tracking creates workforce summaries that identify labor utilization issues and congested areas, while also monitoring more than 50 types of equipment and vehicles.
  • The stress factor identifies safety risks such as missing PPE, workers at height, proximity to energized equipment, and automatically alerts teams about hazardous weather or poor indoor air quality.

Behind the technology: EarthCam’s AI platform can now detect and track more than 85 different types of construction materials and their status through panoramic site imagery.

  • The system creates a searchable dataset of material events and interactions using natural language processing capabilities.
  • “We rebuilt the whole platform to highlight our AI and the magnitude of the data collected by EarthCam’s cameras,” explained Brian Cury, the company’s founder and CEO.

Why this matters: The evolution of EarthCam from a simple camera system to an AI-powered analytics platform demonstrates how construction technology is increasingly focused on delivering actionable intelligence rather than just documentation.

  • The company began implementing AI and computer vision for safety and equipment tracking in 2023 but has now advanced to presenting comprehensive insights through user dashboards.
  • The system’s ability to automatically identify materials, track their status, and alert personnel represents a significant advancement in construction logistics management.
